Revive The Pride. South Gate High School

Dear South Gate Community,

The school year of 2010-11 will be an amazing year for South Gate High School (SGHS) as we kick off a promise to “Revive the Pride” and reclaim SGHS’s athletic legacy. SGHS opened its doors in 1930 and has achieved many accolades as a competitor in the Los Angeles City Section athletics calendar. Our achievements include the 1955 Football Championship, the 1994 undefeated South East Conference Football Championship, and the recent 2005 Soccer Championship.

Nike has joined South Gate High School, its 325 faculty members and its 3383 students in an effort to “Revive The Pride.” For the school year of 2010-11 Nike will invest in SGHS athletics, providing clinics to increase performance across SGHS sports teams, elevating the Homecoming football game with half-time entertainment, and improving SGHS athletic facilities, among others. Working together with SGHS Leadership Team and its faculty members, Nike seeks to ensure that we are Reviving the Pride not only among athletes but also among their peers who will pack the stadiums to support their school teams.

Nike wants to partner with the community from South Gate in order to leave South Gate High Athletics a platform to build a self-funded, sustainable legacy. There are many opportunities to be involved, and some are listed below. By supporting SGHS Athletics, you will help the school build its future, increase business visibility and directly support the youth of South Gate.

We would like to thank you those who attended our official kick-off meeting on Friday, October 1^st. This blog will serve as the official communication vehicle between the Revive The Pride campaign at South Gate High School and the community. We will keep those interested in reviving the pride updated with the year-long activations that will surround South Gate high school athletics. Donations will also be made possible on the blog, the proceeds to go to your athletics team of choice if you desire.
